Skimiti Scholarship

The Skimiti Scholarship program will award up to two renewable scholarships $500 to $2,000 annually to students graduating, or who have previously graduated, from Maplewood Richmond Heights School District and resided at Joe’s Place. The recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the two or four year college, technical/trade school or approved certificate program he attends. Recipients may be considered for renewal for up to one additional undergraduate year for full time study or up to three additional years of part time study, if a renewal application is submitted in a timely manner and academic and financial eligibility criteria continue to be met.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must

  • be a current or past resident of Joe’s Place in Maplewood Richmond Heights,
  • be graduating or a past graduate of Maplewood Richmond Heights High School, and
  • plan to enroll part time or full time in an accredited, nonprofit post-secondary two or four year college or university, technical/trade school or approved certificate program in the United States of America.

Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on the student’s academic record, the quality of the essay and letter(s) of recommendation, and consideration of unusual circumstances. Finalists in the competition will be selected by the Advisory Committee and recommended to the Community Foundation for the determination of financial need.

Notification
Applicants will be notified of their status in the competition by late April. Award checks will be mailed in early August to the college the scholarship recipient will attend. Information about renewal applications will come from the St. Louis Community Foundation.
