St. Louis Graduates Scholarship
The St. Louis Graduates Scholarship provides a renewable $1,000 scholarship award to students with financial need who understand the connection between success and the goals they set and the choices they make, and can demonstrate the drive and ambition necessary to succeed at the college level.
Established in 2012 to help ensure more low-income and first-generation students have the support they need to complete a postsecondary degree, the St. Louis Graduates Scholarship Fund enables members of the community to provide financial aid through a community funded scholarship.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for the St. Louis Graduates Scholarship, a student must:
- Be a senior graduating from a St. Louis area high school. The area is defined as the Missouri counties of St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren, Franklin, Jefferson and the City of St. Louis, and the Illinois counties of St. Clair, Madison, Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Monroe and Macoupin.
- Demonstrate unmet financial need as a full time student at the college he or she will attend.
Selection
Students awarded the St. Louis Graduates Scholarship will demonstrate:
- drive and ambition to succeed at the college level
- an understanding of the connection between success and the goals one sets and the choices one makes
Students will be evaluated on - top quality essay
- strong recommendations
- financial need at a regionally accredited two or four year college or university
Preference may be given to students who are in the first generation of their family to attend college full time. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required."
At least one award will be made to a student attending the University of Missouri (Columbia, Kansas City or St. Louis) from the John D. Perry Fund.
Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account. Funds will be sent to recipients’ schools in August.
