AIGA St. Louis Design Scholarship

AIGA, the professional association for design, is committed to advancing design as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force. Become one of this year’s AIGA St. Louis Design Scholars! Applications are open to students currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the design, illustration or digital media disciplines — click here for a full list. The scholarship is intended for students currently enrolled in a part-time or full-time post-secondary program at an accredited community college, or four year college or university in the St. Louis AIGA region. This scholarship is awarded one time.

Students must be either:
In their final year of community college, preparing to transfer and/or graduate currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the design, illustration or digital media disciplines.
OR
A junior or a senior at a four year college or university and currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the design, illustration or digital media disciplines.

Please note: The AIGA Design Scholarship will be awarded to the chosen applicant at the AIGA Student Conference February 23-25, 2024. The winners will be invited to attend the conference at no cost to themselves. The conference is in-person this year, and we request that you attend the morning session to receive your award.

  2. Upload Resume: Highlight leadership positions, extracurricular involvement, awards and honors, community service and volunteerism, and work experience.
  3. ESSAY—In 500 words or less tell us about a project in your portfolio that speaks to or reflects what you want to contribute as a designer or illustrator.
  4. Your Portfolio - You are required to submit 4 of your best design works. Submitted pieces may be print, interactive, motion graphics, or 3D (such as a brochure, packaging design, etc). If you are an AIGA member, you may use the AIGA portfolio site, or you may use any other portfolio hosting site of your choosing. Please provide a link or a series of links to the website or individual web pages that show the four works online:

SCHOLARSHIP CENTRAL RECOMMENDATION: Enter the name and e-mail address of an instructor, counselor, advisor, supervisor or other similarly qualified individual who will submit a recommendation on your behalf. NOTE: As the applicant, it is your responsibility to inform that person to watch for an email sent on your behalf that will explain how to complete this process.
