Glenn L. Moller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The Glenn L. Moller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is for students from the City of St. Louis and St. Louis County who have overcome adversity to prepare for future success. Preference will be given to applicants who have been touched and affected by the programs of Unleashing Potential. High School seniors, high school graduates, and current college students are eligible to apply. Recipients will demonstrate financial need at an eligible accredited two-year or four-year nonprofit college, university, trade, or technical school in the United States, and may apply for renewal of the award for three additional undergraduate years. Unleashing Potential was previously known as Neighborhood Houses.

Eligibility:

  • Graduating senior, high school graduate, or current college student
  • Resident of the City of St. Louis or St. Louis County
  • Participation in a Unleashing Potential (Neighborhood Houses) program is a benefit but not a requirement
  • College preparatory academic record and potential for success
  • Demonstrated financial need at an eligible college or university
  • Full-time or part-time enrollment as an undergraduate student at an accredited, nonprofit, two-year or four-year college, university, or technical college.

Selection:
Applicants will be evaluated based on

  • student’s extracurricular involvement, including work, that demonstrates responsibility and/or leadership
  • essays that demonstrate strength of character and an attitude that will lead to success
  • two letters of recommendation—one from a teacher, one from a supervisor, or another teacher. An applicant who has participated in an Unleashing Potential or Neighborhood Houses program should choose an Unleashing Potential or Neighborhood Houses staff member as their second reference.
  • transcript and standardized test results that demonstrate past success and potential for future success
  • financial need

Renewal:
Eligibility for renewal of the Moller Scholarship is based on satisfactory progress toward a degree and continued demonstration of financial need. Please note that because the award amounts are based on available funding and financial need that can change from year to year, the amount of this scholarship award may change if a recipient applies for renewal awards in years to come.
