Rio Vista Scholarship

Up to ten Rio Vista Scholarships are awarded to students graduating high schools in the St. Louis Public School District or charter schools, Jennings High School, or Riverview Gardens High School who demonstrate strength of character and an attitude that will lead to success. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and enroll full-time at an accredited Missouri nonprofit two-year or four-year college, university, or technical college.

Eligibility:
• Resident of St. Louis City or County
• Graduating senior from a St. Louis Public School, a charter school within the City of St. Louis, Jennings High School, or Riverview Gardens High School
• College preparatory academic record and potential for success
• Demonstrated financial need at an eligible college or university
• Full-time enrollment at a Missouri nonprofit two-year or four-year college, university, or technical college.

Applicants will be evaluated based on
• student’s extracurricular involvement, including work, that demonstrates responsibility and/or leadership
• essays that demonstrate strength of character and an attitude that will lead to success
• two letters of reference—one from a teacher, one from a supervisor or another teacher
• transcript and standardized test results that demonstrate past success and potential for future success

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Financial need will be evaluated based on information provided by the student, family, and college:
• Application
FAFSA Student Aid Report
• Financial Aid award letter from the college the student will attend.

Renewal:
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to demonstrate financial need. Please note that because the award amounts are based on available funding and financial need that can change from year to year, the amount of this scholarship award may change if a recipient applies for renewal awards in years to come.

Notification
Application status will change from submitted to offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
