"Man in the Arena" Missouri Boys State Trust/Vogel Family Scholarship

This application is open to 2022 participants of The American Legion Boys State of Missouri held at Lindenwood University from June 11-18, 2022.

The “Man in the Arena” Missouri Boys State Trust/Vogel Family Scholarship is a full college scholarship valued at up to $100,000. The scholarship will be awarded to one (1) student participant from the 2022 MBS session. This scholarship, funded by the Vogel Family of St. Charles, MO, was named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt’s inspiring “Citizen in a Republic” speech which was a call to citizens to engage in public service. The scholarship will be awarded based on need and merit of the applicant. The applicant must plan to be enrolled as a full-time student in college. The applicant must participate fully and complete the entire week of Missouri Boys State to be eligible.

The MBS Trust Scholarship Committee will review the applications and determine finalists to be interviewed during the week of Missouri Boys State at University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. Finalists will be notified of the time, date and place for interviews during the week of the MBS program. The scholarship will be awarded at the Final Assembly at Missouri Boys State on Saturday morning, June 19. A first and second runner-up will be selected by the scholarship committee. The recipient must meet the scholarship criteria set forth by the scholarship committee as communicated at the time of the award. Should the awardee fail to maintain academic performance during the scholarship term, the remaining scholarship funds will be available to the first runner-up and then second runner-up.
