Deaconess Foundation Nursing Scholarship

The Deaconess Foundation Nursing Scholarship will provide grants of up to $10,000 to students pursuing a nursing degree. These grants are renewable through completion of a bachelor’s degree or up to ten semesters. The Deaconess Foundation provides the funding for this scholarship, which is administered jointly by The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis and The St. Louis American Foundation.

To be eligible to apply, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be working towards a nursing degree at an accredited, nonprofit school.
  • Be a permanent resident of one of these counties where Deaconess Foundation focuses its efforts: St. Louis City, St. Louis, Franklin, Jefferson, or St. Charles counties in Missouri or Madison, Monroe, or St. Clair counties in Illinois.
  • Demonstrate significant financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or similar need calculations. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) over $15,000 must have significant and extenuating circumstances to be considered.
  • Have achieved a minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average.
  • Be seeking a first associate or a first bachelor’s degree. Students who have already obtained a bachelor’s degree are not eligible to apply.

To be considered, completed applications and all required supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline of April 17. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that ALL required documents have been submitted by the deadline. The Scholarship Foundation may not be able to notify the applicant of missing documents prior to the deadline.

Students who are selected to receive the Deaconess Foundation Nursing Scholarship may also be given an opportunity to accept or decline an interest-free loan or other grants through The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis.
