Missouri Department of the American Legion

The Missouri Department of the American Legion offers multiple opportunities for students. Applicants must be residents of Missouri.

Charles L. Bacon Scholarship – member of The American Legion Family, full time student, under the age of 21

Commanders Scholarship – Applicant must have served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Space Force, or Coast Guard for a minimum of 90 days and received an Honorable Discharge, attend college in Missouri.

Erman W. Taylor Scholarship – Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge. High school senior lanning to major in education.

Joseph J. Frank Scholarship – One boy who has attended a full session of Missouri Boys State or Missouri Cadet Patrol and one girl who has attended a full session of Missouri Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Space Force, or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge.

Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship – One boy who has attended a full session of Missouri Boys State or Missouri Cadet Patrol. One girl who has attended a full session of Missouri Girls State or Missouri Cadet Patrol. Must be the descendent of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, Space Force or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge.

M.D. Jack Murphy Scholarship – One applicant planning a career as a Registered Nurse. The scholarship must be used the first fall semester upon completion of high school. Must be the descendent* of a veteran having served 90 days on active duty in the Army, Air Force,
Navy, Marine Corps or Coast Guard of the United States, and having an honorable discharge.

Shane Dean Voyles Memorial Scholarship – High school senior in Missouri

SAL Scholarship – One student who is a member of the Sons of the American Legion or the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion.
