Curt Smith Sporting Goods Scholarship

The Curt Smith Sporting Goods Scholarship program will annually award renewable scholarships to one or more academically qualified high school seniors from the St. Louis Metropolitan area (Missouri counties of St. Louis, St. Charles, Lincoln, Warren, Franklin, Jefferson, and the City of St. Louis, and the Illinois counties of St. Clair, Madison, Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Monroe, and Macoupin) who demonstrate unmet financial need at an accredited post-secondary community college, two- or four-year college or university, or certificate, trade or technical school in the United States on a full-time basis.

To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • be a graduating high school senior
  • have played high school sports in the eligible geographic area,
  • be academically qualified, and
  • demonstrate unmet financial need at the college the student will attend.

Evaluation and Selection
The St. Louis Community Foundation is responsible for evaluation, selection, and determination of award amount.

Selection will be based on the student’s academic record, participation in high school sports, the quality of the essay and letter(s) of recommendation, and the consideration of unusual circumstances. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Application status will be changed from submitted to either awarded or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.

Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to meet the eligibility criteria.
