Chester O. Hoefner Memorial Scholarship - College
The Wright City R-II School Foundation, thanks to 1946 graduate Chester O. Hoefner’s gift, will give out two (2) one-time $5,000 scholarships (of which, one (1) is preferred for a technical/trade school applicant) and one (1) $10,000 scholarship. The latter will be renewable if the student a) is full time (12 or more hours per semester), b) maintains a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. and c) volunteers once or more in the year prior to renewal for one (1) of the following organizations: Wright City R-II School District, Wright City Alumni Association, and/or the Wright City R-II School District Foundation. The volunteering can be conducted on your behalf by a family member. All three (3) requirements for renewal must be communicated/documented to the high school principal by June 1st for the renewal for the following year to take place.

ESSAY: Applicant must choose one (1) of the following five (5) essays to complete in 500 words or less:
1. Topic of focus on student’s long range plans: How will your chosen college field of study contribute to your immediate or long range career plans?
2. Topic of focus on current events: If you had the authority to change your school in a positive way, what specific changes would you make and why? How would it make it better?
3. Topic focus on personal achievement: Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that sets you apart.
4. Topic focus on background and influence: Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development and drive your future.
5. Topic focus on future plans and goals: Why do you want to get a college education? Where do you see yourself ten (10) years from now?
