New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Scholarship

New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will award the “The Rev. Myron Taylor Academic Excellence Scholarship and Mila Parks Sports & Recreational Scholarship” for the 2024-2025 academic school year to students who have been accepted and will attend an accredited college/university, vocational school or community college. These scholarships have been established to provide financial assistance to deserving students in Metro East Communities to emphasize the importance of obtaining a post-secondary degree. Four (4) $1,000 scholarships will be awarded.

To be eligible, qualified applicants MUST:

1. Be high school seniors who will enroll for the first time in an accredited two-or four-year college/university or vocational school.
2. Submit a certification of admission, letter of acceptance from accredited college/university, vocational school, community college or proof of enrollment (i.e. schedule)
3. Have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or at least a 3.5 on a 5.0 scale.
4. Official high school transcript
5. Twenty (20) hours of documented community service and / or extracurricular activities
6. Documented Church affiliation
7. Submit a copy of the FAFSA Submission Summary
8. Write one typed essay (no more than 250 words). Take care to avoid plagiarizing and identify essay addressed.
9. Provide three (3) letters of recommendation. Letters of reference may come from high school counselor, non-related teacher, employer, pastor, or high school principal/ administrator. Ensure that reference questions are answered by individuals selected.
10. Be residents of Metro East Communities.

Recipients will be invited to a recognition ceremony and reception at the church to meet the Pastor and scholarship committee.
