Chester O. Hoefner Memorial Scholarship - Technical/Trade School

The Wright City R-II School District Foundation, thanks to 1946 graduate Chester O. Hoefner’s gift, would like to give preference to a qualifying Wright City High School student enrolled in the current school year who wishes to attend a technical/trade school.

The purpose of the Chester O. Hoefner Technical/Trade School Scholarship is to provide a monetary award to assist a qualifying student who is pursuing a Career and Technical Education Program of Study for their education and skilled training goals.

The scholarship will be used to defray expenses associated with the student’s planned area of career and technical study. Examples where this scholarship may be applied include tuition, tools, and other personal class courses/job requirements.

The scholarship amount, not to exceed $5,000, will be determined by the Wright City R-II School District Foundation’s board of directors and will be based on need and cost of the program. Evaluation of the application shall include the application content, recommendations, and how the committee feels the applicant has conveyed their desire to grow and develop as a contributing member of the community as well as a 15-20 minute interview with the Wright City R-II School District Foundation’s board of directors.

For the purpose of eligibility for this scholarship, the student must meet the following criteria as verified by the Wright City High School guidance office.
• Career and Technical Education coursework preferred (attach copy of high school transcript)
• Cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher
• 90% attendance rate
• Good citizenship
• Must earn bronze National Career Readiness Certificate (based on WorkKeys assessments in Applied Math, Workplace Documents, and Graphic Literacy) or composite ACT score of 18 can be substituted
