Evelyn D. Wilkey National Youth Essay Contest - Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Eta Gamma Chapter
Join Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. as we embrace the National Education Association’s (NEA) American Education Week. Each year we encourage students to give thought and thereby leadership through their writing. We ask all youth in middle and high school to submit an application, complete a 500-word essay in accordance with the theme above, and sign the Declaration of Originality document. An applicant will be selected according to introduction (organization), content (development of ideas), conclusion, grammar and spelling.
The top middle school and high school essay will receive an award from the Eta Gamma Chapter, and will advance to compete at the Central Regional Level. If successful the applicant will compete at the national level. The monetary awards for each level are listed below.
Middle School & High School – Local: 1st Place $100 Cash Award, National and Regional: 1st Place $500
Middle School & High School – Local: 2nd Place $75 Cash Award , National and Regional: 2nd Place $250
Middle School & High School – Local: 3rd Place $50 Cash Award, National and Regional: 3rd Place $100
