SEMO Educational Access Partnership Programs

The Office of Academic Support Centers (ASC) is designed to enhance the quality of educational experiences for students from underrepresented populations through programs, services and advocacy, as well as referrals to appropriate resources.

College Access Partnership Award (CAP-A) – Is available to first-year students who have participated in a designated College Access Partnership program or Scholarship Organization/Foundation.
Eligibility:
1. Successful completion of a designated College Access Partner Program or receive funding/scholarship from a designated Foundation or Organization Partner.
2. A letter of recommendation from the Partner Program, Foundation or Organization.
3. High school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or above.
4. First generation college student and/or Pell grant eligible.
5. Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Value: Range from $500-2,000 per year ($250-1,000 per semester)

Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship – This award is presented annually to recognize an incoming freshman in the St. Louis area who has demonstrated the potential for academic achievement, leadership and commitment to their community.
Eligibility:
1. High School grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or above and
2. ACT score of 25 or higher
3. Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University
4. Pell Grant Eligible
5. Letter of recommendation
6. Must remain active in Academic Support Center events and activities

Value: Up to full tuition plus $1,000 to cover other educational expenses

Matching Success Award (MSA) Is a need-based award available to new beginning freshmen, new entering transfers and returning students with fewer than 60 credit hours.
Eligibility:
1. Open to members of ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
2. A college or high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or higher.
3. An ACT score of 21 or higher for high school applicants.
4. Demonstrated financial need as documented on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA).
5. Full Admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Value: Up to $2,000.00 per year ($1,000.00 per semester)

MERIT – Is a performance-based award available to new beginning freshmen, new entering transfers and returning students with fewer than 60 credit hours.
Eligibility:
1. Open to members of ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
2. A college or high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or above.
3. An ACT score of 23 or above for high school applicants.
4. Documented participation in leadership and community service activities.
5. Full admittance to Southeast Missouri State University.

Value: Up to $2,400.00 per year ($1,200.00 per semester)
