Butler's Pantry Melinda Jackson Scholarship
The Butler’s Pantry Melinda Jackson Scholarship will award a renewable $1,000 scholarship annually. Butler’s Pantry employees and dependent children of employees who are enrolled, or will enroll, in an accredited, nonprofit, two year or four year college, university or trade school and demonstrate financial need are eligible to apply.
Student Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must
- be an employee of Butler’s Pantry or a dependent child of an employee of Butler’s Pantry.
- be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate college student.
- have achieved a 2.5 grade point average on a 4 point scale (or the equivalent).
- plan to enroll in an accredited post-secondary program of study leading to a certificate, an Associate or a Bachelor’s degree.
- demonstrate unmet financial need.
Recipients’ name, contact information, college and major will be shared with Butler’s Pantry.
Renewal
Scholarships are renewable up to three additional undergraduate years if a renewal application is submitted in a timely manner and academic and financial eligibility criteria continue to be met.
Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
Selection Criteria
The St. Louis Community Foundation is responsible for evaluation, selection, and determination of award amount. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Eligibility, financial need, and award amount for this scholarship program will be determined by the St. Louis Community Foundation. The transcript should show your name, school, grades, and cumulative GPA. - ESSAY: Butler's Pantry established this scholarship to honor a former employee who exemplified the company’s "Guiding Principles of Leadership" such as: “Leaders empower personal growth”, “Leaders are compassionate and caring”, and “Leaders celebrate the success of others”. Write an essay that explains your guiding principles of leadership, providing examples of when you have taken a leadership role.
