Joseph and Richard Krypciak Scholarship
The Joseph and Richard Krypciak Scholarship supports students attending Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville who graduated from one of these high schools: Father McGivney Catholic (Glen Carbon, IL), Marquette Catholic (Alton, IL) or Althoff Catholic (Belleville, IL)
Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must
- plan to enroll full-time at SIU-E next academic year
- be a graduating high school senior or recent graduate of Father McGivney Catholic HS, Marquette Catholic HS or Althoff Catholic HS.
- have achieved a 3.0 or better GPA
- demonstrate unmet financial need. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of the student’s grant aid from other sources, plus the Student Aid Index (as determined by the student’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Selection
Recipients will be selected by the St. Louis Community Foundation based on the student’s commitment to, and academic preparation for, higher education; the quality of the essay(s); determination of financial need; and consideration of unusual circumstances. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”
Renewal
Recipients will be eligible to apply for renewal for up to three additional undergraduate years if a renewal application is submitted on time and academic (GPA of 3.0) and financial eligibility criteria continue to be met. Consideration of terms off for internships or other professional training will be allowed. Recipients requiring additional terms to complete a degree may request consideration for up to two semesters of additional funding if funding is available. Please note that because the award amounts are based on financial need, which can change from year to year, the amount of this scholarship award may change if a recipient applies for renewal awards.
Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.

- When selecting recipients for this scholarship, the review committee will look for students whose applications demonstrate they understand the role of personal financial responsibility in preparing for future success.
