Gateway (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated – 40TH ANNIVERSARY SCHOLARSHIP
The Gateway (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated established a scholarship opportunity in celebration of the chapter’s 40th Anniversary. The chapter will celebrate 40 years of impact by honoring our legacy, engaging our community, and inspiring our future.
This application is open to graduating high school seniors.
Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of this program.Unless otherwise noted, the following procedures, guidelines and deadlines apply to the awarding of the Gateway (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated – 40th Anniversary Scholarship. It is the applicant’s responsibility to adhere to the procedures, guidelines and deadlines as outlined below. Failure to adhere to the procedures, guidelines and deadlines may result in loss of your scholarship.
Eligibility requirements:
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
1. Is not an immediate family member or IRS dependent of a member of The Links, Incorporated.
2. Is a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident or approved under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
3. Is a permanent resident of: St. Louis City, St. Louis County or St. Charles County in Missouri; or St. Clair County or Madison County in Illinois.
4. Is African-American or significantly participates in and promotes organizations and activities in the African-American community.
5. Is a graduating high school student from Jennings, University City, and East St. Louis/Belleville school districts who plans to attend an accredited four-year college, university in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia; or enrolling student at Harris-Stowe ; or current participant in Girls, Inc – St. Louis or Boys & Girls Club of Greater St. Louis or Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center;
6. Has a cumulative grade point average of 2.50 or above on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent thereof.
7. Is able to be present for a videotaping for the 40th Anniversary Celebration. Date to be announced

The Gateway (IL) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, one of its 299 chapters, is dedicated to serving the youth in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. Linked in Friendship and Connected in Service has special meaning to the organization, and is expressed through a plethora of approaches, especially in its scholarship awards. The scholarship of the Gateway (IL) Chapter is named for its Organizer and Charter member Dr. Lillian Adams Parks. Gateway, the original Bi-State Chapter, awards monetary assistance to scholars meeting the application requirements. o Keeping the context of the organization in mind, Why (personally) should the scholarship be awarded to you?
