Rio Vista Scholarship
Up to ten Rio Vista Scholarships will be made annually to students graduating high schools in the St. Louis Public School District or charter schools, Jennings High School, or Riverview Gardens High School who have overcome adversity to prepare for future success. Recipients will demonstrate financial need at an eligible two year or four year public college, university, or technical college, and may apply for renewal of the award for three additional undergraduate years.
Eligibility:
• Resident of St. Louis City or County
• Graduating senior from a St. Louis Public School, a charter school within the City of St. Louis, Jennings High School, or Riverview Gardens High School
• College preparatory academic record and potential for success
• Demonstrated financial need at an eligible college or university
• Full time enrollment at a Missouri nonprofit two-year or four-year college, university or technical college.
Selection:
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of
• student’s extracurricular involvement, including work, that demonstrates responsibility and/or leadership
• essays that demonstrate strength of character and an attitude that will lead to success
• two letters of reference—one from a teacher, one from a supervisor or another teacher
• transcript and standardized test results that demonstrate past success and potential for future success
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”
Financial need will be evaluated based on information provided by the student, family and college:
• Application
• FAFSA Student Aid Report
• Financial Aid award letter from the college the student will attend.
Renewal: Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to demonstrate financial need.
