Rockwood Summit High School Scholarships

ROCKWOOD SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
This application is open to current Rockwood Summit High School seniors who are eligible for graduation (Class of 2021) and in good standing. Please read the application instructions carefully to ensure you answer the questions associated with the scholarships for which you wish to be considered. GPA requirements will be verified by RSHS for those scholarships requiring GPA information. Each scholarship is awarded one-time (non-renewable). Scholarships will be awarded in May during the RSHS Virtual Senior Awards Night. This application covers the following scholarships:

LISA HEISSERER SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: RSHS PARENT STAFF ORGANIZATION (PSO)
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Must have attended Summit all 4 years of high school. Graduate in class of 2021. Must be continuing your education in a College or trade school.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay

PSO SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: RSHS PSO to recognize students of vision who have contributed and/or been of service to Rockwood Summit High School and/or their community.
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Student must attend Rockwood Summit High School during their senior year.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. One-page summary of awards, honors, accomplishments, and high school/community involvement by academic year (a one-page resume is acceptable). Two letters of recommendation (one from RSHS staff, one from community member/coach/employer).

TOM HENSLEY SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: RSHS PSO in honor of Rockwood Summit’s first principal. The scholarship is awarded annually to the “Falcon who soars”.
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Must also possess attributes such as civility, responsibility, honesty, cooperativeness, patriotism, and a love of learning.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. One letter of recommendation from RSHS staff member.

BAND PARENT ORGANIZATION SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: RSHS BAND BPO to recognize students who have been positively impacted due to participation in the Rockwood Summit High School band program.
AWARD: Two scholarships at $500 each
ELIGIBILITY: Must have participated in the RSHS band program each year of attendance at Rockwood Summit. Members of the program include concert, symphonic, wind ensemble, jazz and marching bands and color/winter guard. Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0. Planning to attend a 2- or 4-year accredited college or trade school.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. One letter of recommendation (either a non-band RSHS staff member or from a community member/coach/employer).

RYAN HUMMERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Family of Ryan Hummert to honor Ryan’s memory and to assist high school students in achieving their dreams.
AWARD: up to $1000
ELIGIBILITY: Cumulative 3.0 GPA, has participated in Summit athletics at some point, and who will attend college.
REQUIRMENTS: Essay. List of activities, honors, etc. (a resume can suffice). Three letters of recommendation.

GARY THURM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Family of Gary Thurm
AWARD: $500
ELIGIBILITY: Student is planning on attending a trade/vocational school after high school.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. A list of extracurricular activities at school and in your community (a resume will be accepted).

LEANN FALCETTI-SEVCIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Family of Leann Falcetti-Sevcik in honor of Frau, a long time German teacher at Rockwood Summit and one of the school’s original staff members.
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Student is enrolled in a college or technical school the following fall semester after graduation. Average in grades (2.5+), but above average in their appreciation for life and helping others. They should demonstrate an interest in world languages, an appreciation of music, and a commitment to community service.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. Resume that includes a list of activities and awards received.

COREY SIEBERT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Family of Corey Siebert.
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Enrolled in a college, trade, or technical school the following fall semester after graduation. This student is average in grades, but above average in their approach to life. They should demonstrate an appreciation of music, a love for children, respect and compassion for their fellow classmates, and have participated in at least one sport.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. List of activities inside and outside of school that you have participated in over the past 4 years.

MICHAEL DELATTE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Family of Michael Delatte
AWARD: up to $1,500
ELIGIBILITY: Attending a college, trade or technical school the subsequent fall semester after graduation. The scholarship will be awarded to the student upon enrollment and registration in a U.S. two- or four-year college or university of their choice. If at any time the recipient is not enrolled as a full-time student, he/she shall forfeit any further award.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. One letter of recommendation.

DR. CLARK AND DR. STEGMANN SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Doctors Clark and Stegmann at Brookwood Dental (Fenton)
AWARD: $500
ELIGIBILITY: Student has a minimum 2.5 GPA and will major in a medical-related field after high school graduation.
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. Resume or list of activities/honors.

FENTON FIRE DEPARTMENT COMMUNITY OUTREACH SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Fenton Fire DEPARTMENT
AWARD: $500
ELIGIBILITY: Student has a 2.0 GPA or higher and will pursue a career in an emergency service field (firefighting, emergency medical technician, and paramedic careers).
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. Two letters of recommendation (one from RSHS staff and one from community member/coach/employer).

RSHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: Rockwood Summit Alumni Association. The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage alumni to become future members of the Alumni Association. The funds are designed to help a student pay for learning opportunities after high school and can be used for college or a trade school. The committee will use a holistic review process. The student’s potential for success in their post-high school plan will also be considered.
AWARD: up to $1,000
ELIGIBILITY: Candidates might be average in grades but above average in their commitment to RSHS and are dedicated to giving back to RSHS after graduation. Must have been admitted to a college, university or trade school program for the fall semester following graduation. The committee is looking for a senior who is willing to be an active alumnus after they graduate from RSHS. The committee may consider need when selecting recipient(s).
REQUIREMENTS: Essay. Resume that includes a list of your activities and involvement at RSHS and the awards that you have received in high school.

CLASS OF 2000 SCHOLARSHIP
SPONSOR: ROCKWOOD SUMMIT HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2000
AWARD: $500
ELIGIBILITY: A student who is actively involved in school and community and has a solid plan for their future.
