Cuevas-Jones Family Scholarship

The Cuevas-Jones Family Scholarship will annually award renewable scholarships to Hispanic students who will enroll full time as undergraduate students in an accredited, nonprofit, two-year or four-year college, university or trade or technical school. Each academically qualified recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the postsecondary institution they attend in the United States.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • be Hispanic with a family origin from a Latin American country
  • be a resident of the St. Louis metropolitan area (Missouri Counties: St. Louis, St. Louis City, St. Charles, Jefferson, Lincoln, Warren, Franklin. Illinois Counties: St. Clair, Madison, Monroe, Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Macoupin)
  • be graduating or a recent graduate of high school, a recent recipient of a high school equivalency diploma, or a current college student
  • plan to enroll full time in an accredited, nonprofit, two-year or four-year college, university or technical school in the United States
  • have achieved a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • demonstrate financial need

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Selection
Selection will be based on the student’s contributions to the communities in which they live, the quality of the essay and letter(s) of recommendation, the student’s academic record, and consideration of financial circumstances..

Renewal
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account. Funds will be sent to recipients’ schools in August.
