Officer Tamarris Bohannon Memorial Scholarship

The Officer Tamarris Bohannon Memorial Scholarship will annually award scholarships to students who are enrolling in their last year of postsecondary education. The scholarship will assist students who have unmet financial need in persisting to degree or credential completion. Each recipient will enroll in an accredited, nonprofit, technical/trade school, two-year college or four-year college/university in the United States.

To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • be planning to complete their degree or certificate program in the academic year being funded.
  • be a resident of the city of St. Louis, Missouri.
  • be pursuing a degree or credential in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, Firefighting, or Emergency Medical Services (EMT or Paramedic).
  • plan to enroll full time at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical school, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States.
  • demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by standard methods of need analysis in practice at the time of selection. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of the family’s contribution and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • essays that articulate the student’s commitment to their chosen field.
  • extracurricular and community involvement, including work experience.
  • transcript that demonstrate pasts success and potential degree completion.
  • financial need.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account. Scholarship recipients will be asked for permission to publicize their name, school and degree.

A recipient completing a certificate program who plans to continue for an associate degree or a recipient completing an associate degree who plans to continue for a bachelor’s degree would be eligible to re-apply when in the final year their subsequent degree program.
