Opaa! Kenneth L. Short Memorial Scholarship
The Opaa! Kenneth L Short Memorial Scholarship will annually award up to five renewable $1,000 scholarships to students who are graduating from high schools served by Opaa! Food Management, Inc. Click here for a list of eligible school districts
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be graduating from an eligible high school served by Opaa! Food Management Inc.
- plan to pursue an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate.
- have unmet financial need at the school they plan to attend.
- plan to enroll full time in a nonprofit, accredited program, college or university
Preference will be given to students interested in pursuing a career in the food service/hospitality industry.
Selection
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of:
- student’s extracurricular and community involvement, including work experience
- essays that demonstrate an attitude that will lead to success
- transcript that demonstrate pasts success and potential for future success
- references
- unmet financial need
Preference will be given to students interested in pursuing a career in the food service/hospitality industry.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”
Renewal
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to demonstrate financial need.
Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in April. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
