BJC Scholars Fund

The BJC Scholars Fund is intended to serve youth in pursuit of higher education from communities in which BJC hospitals are located. Applicants must be current high school seniors planning to enroll in accredited, nonprofit four-year, in-state public institutions (or any out-of-state school that allows in-state tuition reciprocity). Awarded students will receive a scholarship of up to $12,000 per academic year, which is renewable through graduation or up to ten semesters, provided the student continues to meet eligibility and selection criteria.

To be eligible to be considered for this scholarship applicants must:

  • Be a permanent resident in the following communities served by BJC Hospitals: St. Louis City, St. Louis, St. Charles, Crawford, and St. Francois Counties in Missouri; Madison County and St. Clair County in Illinois.
  • Be a graduating high school senior.
  • Plan to attend an accredited, nonprofit four-year, in-state public institutions (or a 4-year public out-of-state school that allows in-state tuition reciprocity).
  • Have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average while in high school.
  • Demonstrate significant financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or similar need calculations. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) over $15,000 must have significant and extenuating circumstances to be considered.

All fields of study, except the ministry and divinity degrees, are eligible for funding.

The BJC Scholars Fund is administered by The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis. To be considered, completed applications and all required supporting documents must be submitted by April 17. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that ALL required documents have been submitted by the deadline. The Scholarship Foundation may not be able to notify the applicant of missing documents prior to the deadline.

Students who are selected to receive the BJC Scholars Fund may also be given an opportunity to accept or decline an interest-free loan or other grants through The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis.

Awards will be announced in June.

If you receive the financial aid award letter from your school by the application deadline, upload the document and submit it with your application. If you do not receive the letter by the deadline, you will be contacted to email the document before an award is considered.
