Skimiti Scholarship

The Skimiti Scholarship program will award renewable scholarships up to $2,000 annually to students graduating, or who have previously graduated, from Maplewood Richmond Heights School District and resided at Joe’s Place. The recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at an accredited nonprofit two or four-year college, technical/trade school, or approved certificate program they attend.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must

  • be a current or past resident of Joe’s Place in Maplewood Richmond Heights.
  • be graduating or a past graduate of Maplewood Richmond Heights High School.
  • plan to enroll part-time or full-time as an undergraduate in an accredited, nonprofit two or four-year college or university, technical/trade school, or approved certificate program in the United States.
  • demonstrate unmet financial need.

Selection Criteria
Selection will be based on the student’s academic record, the quality of the essay and letter(s) of recommendation, and consideration of unusual circumstances. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required."

Notification
Application status will change from submitted to offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account. Award checks will be mailed in early August to the college the scholarship recipient will attend.

Renewal
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree, continue to meet the eligibility criteria and complete the renewal application on time. Please note that because the award amounts are based on available funding and financial need that can change from year to year, the amount of this scholarship award may change if a recipient applies for renewal awards in years to come.
