Norwood Hills Scholarship

The Norwood Hills Scholarship is open to academically qualified employees of Norwood Hills Country Club, St. Louis, Missouri, their children, and their grandchildren. The applicants selected as recipients will demonstrate financial need as a student at an accredited nonprofit trade school, college, or university.

Up to five (5) scholarships of up to $10,000 will be awarded. Eligible students at any level in their program of study are encouraged to apply. Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to meet eligibility requirements.

The Norwood Hills Scholarship was established by the Norwood Hills Charitable Trust, a Missouri nonprofit, public charity, whose goal is to support the educational aspirations of the Club’s employees and their children. The generous members of the Norwood Hills Country Club make these scholarships possible.

Eligibility:
Employees must be in good standing on April 15 to be eligible. The employee’s status will be confirmed by the Trust. The employee, their children, or their grandchildren are eligible to apply for consideration. Caddies are independent contractors and are not eligible for this scholarship.

To be eligible, an employee must:

  • plan to enroll full-time or part-time in a certificate or undergraduate degree program.
  • enroll at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical school, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States.
  • demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by standard methods of need analysis in practice at the time of selection. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of the family’s contribution and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

An employee’s child or grandchild must:

  • plan to enroll full-time in a certificate or undergraduate degree program.
  • enroll at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical school, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States.
  • demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by standard methods of need analysis in practice at the time of selection. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of the family’s contribution and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

Trustees and major donors to the Norwood Hills Charitable Trust, Norwood Hills Country Club members, and dependents of these individuals are not eligible to apply for this scholarship opportunity.

Selection:
Applications will be evaluated based on financial need, past academic performance and potential for continued success, and the quality of the essay and recommendations. Selection of the recipients and the scholarship amount will be determined by the St. Louis Community Foundation from information provided by the applicant, the applicant, and the school. The award amount is the only financial information that is shared with the employer or the Charitable Trust. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

To maintain eligibility for renewal of this award, employees must enroll part-time or full-time in a certificate or degree program and children or grandchildren of employees must enroll as a full-time student each semester. Recipients must maintain satisfactory progress toward his or her degree as defined by the college, annually demonstrate financial need, and submit renewal application materials by the July 1 deadline.

Renewal
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to meet eligibility requirements. Please note that because the award amounts are based on available funding and financial need that can change from year to year, the amount of this scholarship award may change if a recipient applies for renewal awards in years to come.

Notification
Application status will change from submitted to offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
