Officer Tamarris Bohannon Memorial Scholarship

The Officer Tamarris Bohannon Memorial Scholarship will annually award scholarships to students who will complete their degree within the next three semesters and are dedicated to working in the St. Louis region. The scholarship will assist students who have unmet financial need in persisting to degree or credential completion. Each recipient will enroll in an accredited, nonprofit, technical/trade school, two-year college, or four-year college/university in the United States.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • have 45 or fewer hours remaining to undergraduate degree/credential completion if they are a full-time student and 27 or fewer hours remaining if they are a part-time student.
  • be a resident of the city of St. Louis or St. Louis County.
  • be pursuing a degree or credential in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Human Services, Firefighting, or Emergency Medical Services (EMT or Paramedic).
  • plan to enroll at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical school, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States.
  • demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by standard methods of need analysis in practice at the time of selection. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance, the sum of the family’s contribution, and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

Selection
Applicants will be evaluated based on:

  • essays that articulate the student’s commitment to their chosen field.
  • extracurricular and community involvement, including work experience.
  • transcript that demonstrates past success and potential degree completion.
  • financial need.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in January. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account. Scholarship recipients will be asked for permission to publicize their name, school, and degree.

A recipient completing a certificate program who plans to continue for an associate degree or a recipient completing an associate degree who plans to continue for a bachelor’s degree would be eligible to re-apply when in the final year of their subsequent degree program.
