Mary and Ike Eichenberger Music Scholarship
The Mary and Ike Eichenberger Music Scholarship encourages Ferguson-Florissant School District vocal music, string instrument, and band students to accomplish their post-high school educational goals in music. One or two awards will be made, depending on the strength of the applications submitted. Awards range from $500 to $1,000 and are renewable for up to three additional undergraduate years as long as eligibility requirements continue to be met.
Eligibility:
- Seniors currently enrolled at McCluer High School, McCluer North High School, STEAM Academy at McCluer South-Berkley, or Innovation School at Cool Valley who have significant music experience
- Student must have completed junior year at one of the Ferguson-Florissant High Schools
- Cumulative, weighted 2.5 GPA or higher
- Plans to enroll in music education, music performance, audio production, or music studies at a 4-year college, university or conservatory
Requirements:
Letter of recommendation from your high school choir, orchestra or band director
Enrollment in a music education, music performance, or music studies major or program at a 4-year college, university or conservatory
Evaluation and Selection
Applicants will be evaluated on the information submitted by the applicant, in the letter of recommendation and the transcript of academic work. The rubric used to evaluate includes the following:
• Essay: up to 20 points—Well-crafted 200 word essay on your future music plans
• Activities: up to 20 points—Participation, leadership and awards in school or community vocal, string or band groups
• Recommendation: up to 10 points—strength of the recommendation from your high school choir, orchestra or band director
Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required."

Awards
Applicants will be notified of award status in mid-April and should log in to their Scholarship Central account to see the status. Recipients will be honored at their school’s recognition assembly. Award checks will be mailed to the college or university in early August pending confirmation of final school choice and student ID number.
The Mary & Ike Eichenberger Music Scholarship program is administered by the St. Louis Community Foundation.
