Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship

The Purdy Emerging Leaders Scholarship from the Missouri Scholarship and Loan Foundation is named in honor of Allan Walker Purdy. This program provides merit-based scholarships to emerging leaders who are outstanding students and who have the need for additional resources for higher education. This scholarship supports candidates who demonstrate leadership, character and academic performance. Additionally, these students have a vision, are eager to make their contribution to the world and have the work ethic to bring their dreams to fruition.

Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of academic performance, leadership potential, and character. Selected students will be those who have a vision, are eager to make their contribution to the world, and have the work ethic to bring their dreams to fruition. Unmet financial need will also be considered.

Applicants must:

  • Be a Missouri resident and U.S. citizen
  • Attend a Missouri, PUBLIC, four-year university or the State Technical College of Missouri
  • Be a College sophomore, junior or senior for the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Have unmet financial need
  • Be a full-time student
  • Generally, have a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher is required

This application requires one reference. The reference should be from someone who can speak to instances where you have demonstrated leadership. Your application may not be considered if the reference is not submitted
Student’s EFC range (as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)) will factor into decision – higher need students will be weighted heavier in the application process. Unmet need will also be a factor.

Award recipients will be notified in mid-July.
