John F. and Margaret H. Armstrong Engineering Scholarship

The John F. and Margaret H. Armstrong Engineering Scholarship Fund will annually award scholarships to female students who will enroll full time as undergraduate engineering students. Each academically qualified recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the public two or four year college or university she attends in the United States or Canada.

Student Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicant must

  • identify as female,
  • be a graduating high school senior
  • have achieved a 2.5 or better on a 4 point scale,
  • identify engineering as her intended college major and degree
  • plan to enroll full time in an accredited, public post-secondary two-year or four-year college, university in the United States of America, including its territories, or Canada
  • demonstrate unmet financial need as determined by standard methods of need analysis in practice at the time of selection. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of the family’s contribution and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

Selection
Selection may be based on the student’s academic record, the quality of the essay and letter(s) of recommendation, and/or consideration of financial need and unusual circumstances. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”

Recipients will be eligible to apply for renewal for up to three additional undergraduate years, if a renewal application is submitted in a timely manner and academic and financial eligibility criteria continue to be met. Consideration of terms off for internships or other professional training will be allowed. Recipients requiring additional terms to complete a degree may request consideration for up to two semesters of additional funding, if funding is available. Making satisfactory progress toward a degree, generally defined as a 2.5 grade point average on a 4 point scale (or the equivalent) in 12 or more semester hours (or the equivalent), will be considered academically eligible for renewal but each applicant’s facts and circumstances will be considered. The goal is to financially assist the recipient to achieve a college degree.

Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
