Sandy Jaffe Memorial Booksource Scholarship

The Sandy Jaffe Memorial Booksource Scholarship will annually award up to three scholarships to eligible children and grandchildren of Booksource employees. Each academically qualified recipient will demonstrate unmet financial need at the postsecondary school they attend. Each recipient will enroll full-time in an accredited, nonprofit, technical/trade school, two-year college, or four-year college/university in the United States.

Eligibility
To be eligible, the applicant must:

• be a child or grandchild of a full- or part-time Booksource employee with at least two years of tenure as of the application deadline. Employment status and family relationship will be confirmed by Booksource.
• be a graduating high school senior, recent high school graduate, or current undergraduate college student.
• have achieved at least a 2.0 grade point average on a 4-point scale (or the equivalent).
• be pursuing a certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree.
• plan to enroll full time at an accredited, nonprofit, trade/technical school, two-year college, or four-year college or university in the United States.

Prefernce will be given to students who demonstrate unmet financial need at the school they will attend. In general, unmet financial need will be defined as the difference between the cost of attendance and the FAFSA Student Aid Index and the student’s grant aid from other sources.

Selection
Applicants will be evaluated on the basis of:

  • essays that demonstrate strength of character and an attitude that will lead to success.
  • extracurricular and community involvement, including work experience, that demonstrates leadership potential.
  • transcript that demonstrate pasts success and potential degree completion.
  • financial need.

Incomplete applications will not be considered. Please answer all questions that apply to you, even if they are not marked “required.”
Recipients’ names, contact information, college and major will be shared with Booksource. Financial information will not be shared.

Renewal
Recipients may reapply for award consideration for a maximum of four years of undergraduate funding provided they continue to make satisfactory progress toward a degree and continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Notification
Application status will be changed from submitted to either offered or denied in June. Applicants can view their status by logging in to their Scholarship Central account.
