American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) Southern Missouri-Southern Illinois Chapter
The American Association of Blacks in Energy is a professional organization of African Americans in the energy industry. Through its Scholarship Program, AABE seeks to help increase the number of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans (underrepresented minorities) in energy-related fields. By doing so we help our nation address a critical need and a challenge to our future economic vitality in the world market.
The Southeastern Missouri/Southern Illinois Chapter (SMSI) awards ten scholarships annually to outstanding college-bound high school seniors to support their academic efforts in college.
ELIGIBILITY
The recipients must be high school seniors who have applied to attend (or have been admitted to) an accredited institution of higher learning.
THE CRITERIA FOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM CONSIDERATION:
A. Must have a minimum of 3.0 scale out of 4.0 cumulative GPA. (transcript must show unweighted academic average)
B. Must be a graduating high school senior who has applied to one or more colleges or universities.
C. Must plan to major in business, one the physical sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics fields.
D. Must be a member of a historically underrepresented group (African American, Hispanic or Native American).
E. Must be a resident of Southern Illinois or Eastern Missouri
If selected to receive a scholarship, you will be asked to provide a photo of yourself for AABE to use when announcing the awards.
